365 pictures - Day 21

A sunshine-bright field of oilseed rape against a gunmetal-dark threatening sky. Beautiful contrast!

365 pictures - Day 20

A pretty, fresh green beech tree. I think these little things may be baby beech nuts.

365 pictures - Day 19

This little Japanese acer in our back garden is unfurling its leaves now. When they first open, they're bright orange and so soft you can barely feel them. The variety is called "Orange Dream".

365 pictures - Day 18

It's bluebell season, and they're everywhere! I found this clump in the hedge by our doctors surgery. I can't think that this will be the last bluebell picture this season.

365 pictures - Day 17

I took this picture in a car park. Gorgeous blackthorn bushes all along the boundary, shining against a bright blue sky. I think the blackthorns have flowered for longer than usual this year.

365 pictures - Day 16

I knew I'd do it eventually - take the picture and forget to post it. Can't remember everything.
Here it is. Lime flowers. These are blossoming on all the lime trees right now, and they're fresh and green and frothy.

365 pictures - Day 15

I love the blossom on this tree. It's an apple tree, possibly called Everest. I love the variation in the pink between the buds and the flowers, all set off by the green leaves.
I took this picture at Hillers Farm Shop garden. One of my favourite places.

365 pictures- Day 14

A kind of abstract close up today. I just love the shape of the ripples in this bark. There are lots of new shoots pushing out down the trunk too.

365 pictures - Day 13

Having just received my P60 and realised how much (little) I earned in this last year, here are some beautiful light daffodils at one of my schools. Just to cheer me up. 😁

365 pictures - Day 12

Our little magnolia stellata in the back garden. It's been frosted, but it's still flowering merrily away. A lesson for me if ever there was one.

365 pictures - Day 11

A beautiful day today, really showing off this amelanchier in full blossom just round the corner from us.

365 pictures - Day 10

The first flowers opening on our poplar cherry in our front garden.

365 pictures - Day 9

Some park planting. Crazy bright colours amid the emerging spring foliage. Not sure whether I like it, but you can't help but look.

365 pictures - Day 8

We had a lovely day out at Spetchley Gardens today. The sun was warm, and the birds were singing, and all the flowers were bursting forth. It was difficult to choose just one picture, but I think this is my favourite. I love the reflections on the still water and the yellow flowers. They could be marsh marigolds. Not totally sure.

365 pictures - Day 7

Day 7! A whole week. *is pleased*
It was snowing when I woke this morning. Seasonal pictures? Oh, yes. Typical British spring - wet, cold snow that doesn't really stick. If you look really carefully here, you can see snow on the hills. I think it's the edge of the Cotswolds.

365 pictures - day 6

It's wet and cold today, but there are raindrops hanging off the branches of the cherry tree, shining like little diamonds.

365 pictures - Day 5

Forsythia in our garden. This poor plant has been moved from here to there and all over, and it's had branches broken off, and it's still flowering itself silly. I always feel that when forsythia is in flower, then it's proper spring.

365 pictures - Day 4

Some lovely shiny celandines in our garden. I love the sheen on the inside of the petals, and the way they open out in the sunshine.

Tuesday 12 April 2016

365 pictures - Day 3

It's been raining overnight and here are some daffodils, heavy with raindrops.

365 Pictures - Day 2

With all the trees full of buds, it's hard to choose just one, but I think this is special. A peek into the opening bud of a horse chestnut.

365 Pictures

Every year, I seem to have more and more trouble with winter. And every spring, I'm thinking there's going to be another winter. It's not good for me.

So what to do about it? Because I know there are beautiful things to see all year long. I'm going to try to post a picture every day. Something seasonal, from my garden or elsewhere. Just so I can look properly and see the beauty. And I'll limit myself to a single picture per day.

Today's picture - one of the cherries in my garden. This one's called "Ruby" - my mum's name. We bought it in a garden centre in the Lake District one year.
