365 pictures - Day 113

I planted up a couple of troughs in the garden with some special offer bedding plants recently, and they're starting to flower. Pink pelargoniums and blue lobelia.

Greater Willowherb and Ragwort, growing in abundance round the back of the village hall.

365 pictures - Day 111

This is Himalayan Balsam, sometimes known as Policeman's Helmet or Indian Shot. It's quite invasive around watercourses, but so pretty in the watercolour pinks.

365 pictures - Day 110

It's been overcast and drizzly all day, but now there's a tiny glimpse of blue sky. The trees are heavy with wet green leaves.

365 pictures - Day 109

There are leylandii conifers in the garden at the back of ours, in the other side of the fence. This pretty butterfly was sunning itself on the branches.

365 pictures - Day 108

The lime trees have their seeds hanging now. I like the combination of greens.

365 pictures - Day 107

The first flower opens on our sweet peas. We have two small obelisks with sweet peas growing up them, and I can usually cut flowers from them from July to September. I sow seeds in April and plant them out in June. No need to nick the seeds or soak them - no messing around required. They all come up!

365 pictures - Day 106

Our buddleia is starting to open its flowers. The butterflies absolutely love this!

365 pictures - Day 105

Some beautiful plants in front of some houses in Warwick. Pots, climbers, shrubs.

365 pictures - Day 104

These crocosmia are growing through the fence from next door. I ought to dig them up really, but the orange flowers are so pretty.

365 pictures - Day 103

The Japanese Anemones in our garden have started flowering. They'll go all summer.

Wednesday 20 July 2016

365 pictures - Day 102

Some lovely wild perennial sweet peas growing in a car park. There are big clumps of these on the way into town, and the clumps get bigger every year. I always look forward to them.

365 pictures - Day 101

Hiding away in the shade, like me on this, the hottest day of the year so far, a foxglove. It's a Digitalis Mertonensis, a posh foxglove. I hope it's going to flourish here. I love these.

365 pictures - Day 100

100 days! A milestone.
And to mark it, two pictures today, although I'm not going to rename this venture '366 pictures', not even bearing in mind the leap year that's just occurred to me.
First, my picture, a lovely pink rose against a bright hot summer sky. I found it at an antique centre near one of my schools.

And secondly, one sent to me by my mother. Poppies growing out of a potentilla bush by her front door. Very pretty! Hello mum! *waves*

365 pictures - Day 95

A beautiful colour combination - the purple of the lavender and the yellow green of the acer.

365 pictures - Day 94

A classic overcast summer day. Green leaves and rain clouds.

Monday 11 July 2016

365 pictures - Day 93

Our bedding border in the front garden is full of colour. These pelargoniums and begonias will flower right up until the frosts in November or December.

Sunday 10 July 2016

365 pictures - Day 92

I got this little pot of sempervivums when my parents moved house. They seem to be surviving very well, and every summer, one or two of them flower.

Thursday 7 July 2016

365 pictures - Day 89

I found these roses with lovely papery petals down at the garden centre.

Wednesday 6 July 2016

365 pictures - Day 88

There are pretty flowers in our front lawn. I think they're clover and bugle. Unfortunately, they're not there anymore because my husband mowed the grass.

Sunday 3 July 2016

365 pictures - Day 85

This is a ceanothus. We got it years ago at a plant fair. It's different to the blue varieties in that it flowers a bit later - June to July - and it's deciduous. I give it a hard prune every February, and it comes up beautifully. The seed heads are lovely too.

365 pictures - Day 84

The geraniums are still flowering, and the yellow potentilla has joined in. Beautiful colours together!

365 pictures - Day 83

I think privet is really underrated. The flowers are so pretty, and they just smell of summer!
